Services

Our office provides a range of professional eye care services for patients. Comprehensive eye examinations are offered to people of all ages. Children (infants through to the age of 18) and seniors (from the age of 65 and onwards) receive no fee eye exams annually through the BC Medical Services Plan.

Comprehensive Eye Exams with an Internal Health Check
The foundation of our practice is a thorough eye examination, checking both the vision and health of your eyes. With the use of leading eye care equipment, our doctors carefully tend to your ocular health needs and provide you with a prescription that best suits your vision.

The internal health check is a part of the eye examination and is recommended for everyone. This check aids in early detection of many eye diseases such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, retinal detachments, optic nerve diseases, etc.

Optos®
Our office highly recommends a comprehensive exam with a product developed by Optos® called the Optomap. The Optomap is a low-powered laser ophthalmoscope that takes digital images of your retina, showing your doctor a 200 degree window into the back of your eye. With the Optos® technology, detecting and monitoring eye diseases is much more efficient than ever before. The retinal image is displayed immediately, allowing your doctor to detect any eye disease. The Optomap has no side effects and is safe for all patients including children. Another advantage of Optos® technology is that the image can be kept on record and e-mailed to patients for future reference as it is digital. Pediatric Eyecare
Our doctors encourage all children from the age of three and onwards to have yearly eye exams. Early detection of vision problems is vital to the overall health and well-being of children. Did you know that 80% of a child’s learning is visual? The BC Medical Services Plan covers the cost of a basic eye examination each year for children aged 18 and younger.

Management of Eye Health Conditions
Lougheed Town Centre Optometry is a full scope optometric practice. Our doctors are trained to assess, manage and treat anterior segment disease in addition to checking the refractive status of your eyes. They are also capable of managing and treating glaucoma as well.

Our doctors monitor changes in the ocular health of patients with diabetes, cataracts, glaucoma, strabismus, macular degeneration, etc. through the encouragement of annual eye exams.

Visual field testing is an integral part of the examination when required. Our doctors will always utilize this testing in patients showing early signs of glaucoma for example. In addition, we use this type of testing for all those needing to complete driving evaluations. We conveniently provide this specialized test on site.

Minor Eye Exams
During instances of eye emergencies, our doctors are obligated and trained to provide immediate medical attention. Our doctors treat everything from pink eye to foreign body removal. They will address symptoms of pain or irritation, loss of vision, floaters, and so forth. Our office works closely with a wide range of reputable ophthalmologists in the Lower Mainland and referrals can be made promptly.

Surgery Co-Management
Our doctors can provide options for patients interested in laser vision correction (Lasik & PRK refractive surgeries) surgery. After evaluating your eyes and discussing your post-surgery expectations, our doctors will help to determine whether you are an appropriate candidate for refractive surgery. If laser eye surgery is suitable for you, our office will facilitate a referral to the many reputable laser surgery centre’s located in the Lower Mainland. Our goal is to make your initial and follow-up appointments convenient and informative. Not only do our doctors work closely with ophthalmologists in the management of laser vision correction, they also assist with co-managing cataract surgeries through pre-operative and post-operative care.
